This was the monthly siren test for July 2005. The sirens are tested at 8:45 am on the first Wednesday of each month. The sirens actually are part of the Emergency Plan for accidents that might occur at the Duane Arnold Energy Center, but the DAEC is gracious and allows Linn and Benton Counties to use them for tornado warnings. I call the voice at the beginning the “Voice of God” because for a while, this would wake me up. As an added bonus, you get to hear the city of Hiawatha test their siren at the same time. I lived right across the street from City Hall and the siren on the DAEC system is about half a mile away. You can imagine how loud this is.
